Privacy Policy

Steeple Cards lets you send Catholic greeting cards online while supporting a Catholic parish, council, school, or other organization. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the promises we make about it. We have written it in plain language because you should not need a lawyer to understand how your information is handled.
Steeple Cards is a trade name of Solutions About LLC, which is responsible for the information described in this policy.
Our promises to you
- We never sell or rent your information, or the information of anyone you send a card to.
- We never market to the people you send cards to. Your recipients hear from us only because you sent them a card.
- We never show ads, and we do not use advertising trackers.
- Partner organizations see how many cards were sold and how much they earned. They do not see your recipient list or your messages.
Information we collect
From people who send cards:
- Your name and email address, which we use to sign you in and send your receipts.
- The names, email addresses, and mobile numbers of the people on your card list, which you give us so we can deliver your cards.
- If you choose to add them, the birthdays (month and day only, never the year) of people on your card list. They are kept on your list, shown only to you, and may be used to remind you before a birthday. We never contact the person whose birthday it is.
- The messages you write in your cards.
- Your purchases and credit balance, and the organization your cards support.
If you use the Speak button to write your message, your browser turns your speech into text using its own speech service (Google in Chrome, Apple in Safari, Microsoft in Edge). Steeple Cards receives only the words that appear in the box and never records or keeps audio.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe, and Steeple Cards never sees or stores it.
From people who receive cards: we receive your name and email address or mobile number from the person who sent you a card. When you open a card, we note that it was opened so the sender knows it arrived.
From partner organizations: your organization's name, city and state, and mailing address, and the name, email address, and phone number of the person managing its account. Only Steeple Cards and the organization's own managers see the phone number and mailing address. We never share them with people who send cards, show them on cards, or sell them. Bank account details are collected by Stripe directly, and Steeple Cards never sees them.
When you visit our website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as your browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure. We use only the cookies needed for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To deliver your cards and show you when they have been opened.
- To save your card list so it is ready for you next season.
- To process purchases and send receipts and sign-in codes.
- To credit the organization your cards support and to pay them their share.
- To review partner organizations when they sign up, and to reach them about their account and payments by email, phone, or mail.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To protect against fraud and misuse.
Emails we send you
If you have an account with us, we send emails you need, such as sign-in codes, receipts, and notices about cards you've sent. You'll receive these as long as you have an account.
We may also email you from time to time about Steeple Cards: new cards and seasons, reminders before Christmas, Easter, and other occasions, and ideas for sending cards. These emails may be based on how you use Steeple Cards, such as the cards you've sent or how many cards you have left to send. Each one includes a link to unsubscribe, and you can unsubscribe at any time without affecting your account or your cards.
We never send these emails to people who receive cards. If someone sent you a card, we use your email address only to deliver cards sent to you.
Text messages
Steeple Cards does not send text messages. If you choose to text a card to someone, the message is sent from your own phone, using your own messaging app. Mobile numbers you add are used only to help you do that.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Steeple Cards, and only as needed for them to do that work. These include Stripe for payments and payouts, our email delivery provider, our website hosting provider, and our database provider. Each is required to protect your information and may not use it for their own purposes.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public. If Steeple Cards is ever sold or merged, your information would remain protected by this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep your account and your saved card list for as long as your account is open, so your list is ready each season. You can delete people from your list, or close your account, at any time. Sent cards remain viewable through their private links so your recipients can return to them, and we will remove any card on request.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. If you received a card and would rather not receive cards through Steeple Cards, write to us and we will make sure no further cards are sent to you. Email hello@steeplecards.com and we will respond promptly. Some states give their residents additional privacy rights, and we honor those requests as well.
Security
Information is encrypted as it travels between your device and our service, and access to it is limited to the people and providers who need it to run Steeple Cards. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take protecting your information seriously.
Children
Steeple Cards is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 except as a card recipient named by an adult sender.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes to this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date above. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
